BEOWULF

     First of all, I am so sorry for that I could not attend the class. When Iresearched the presentation, I understood importance of epic poems in English Literature.  Especially, beowulf is an important character. When I read to the presentation, I understood that beowulf is the oldest known piece of english literature and beowulf is an epic poem whose author is unknown. Generally in epic poem, the hero is fearless,powerfull and important character for society.

     Bewolf has  a lot of characters. These characters are  Beowulf, Hrothgar, Grendel, Dragon,Grendel’smother and Wiglaf. Beowulf is main character of this epic poem. Hrothgar symbolizes a father figure. Grendel is a monster of poem. Dragon symbolizes strength. Winglaf is a retainer of beowulf.

     When this epic poem  is read, a lot of people get goose bumps. Because, every person feels powerful himself or herself.But when I read this poem, I did not affect on the contrary I found this poem absurd.
